Voice Article - Ordering the disordered
In this Voices article, I am excited to share the story of my academic journey, which began in Jena, Germany, and has led me to my current role as a group leader at the Cambridge Institute of Medical Research, University of Cambridge. My research focuses on the fascinating world of intrinsically disordered proteins and membraneless organelles and their critical roles in neuronal function and disease.
The path I’ve taken reflects a deep passion for understanding how these unique cellular structures influence brain health, offering insights into complex neurodegenerative disorders. Along the way, I’ve encountered invaluable mentors, pivotal research opportunities, and exciting scientific discoveries, all of which have shaped my career and research focus. Through this article, I hope to inspire others with my experiences in the field of biomedical research, while shedding light on the growing importance of studying intrinsically disordered proteins and membraneless organelles in the context of human health.
